Former aces trying to recapture past glory will take the mound Tuesday as Stephen Strasburg faces the Braves while David Price takes on the Cardinals. Strasburg made just two starts last season, while Price opted out of the entire 2020 campaign before being relegated to a bullpen role for the Dodgers. Both teams need vintage performances from the pitchers as the Nationals reside at the bottom of the NL East, while the Dodgers have lost three of their last four. Despite all 30 teams being in action Tuesday, the MLB DFS player pool isn’t stocked with top pitching options, so both Strasburg and Price should garner interest for your MLB DFS lineups.
Should you favor Strasburg or Price as part of your MLB DFS strategy? And which value picks further down the MLB DFS price list can help balance your rosters? Before locking in any MLB DFS picks for Tuesday, be sure to check out the MLB DFS advice, strategy and projections from SportsLine daily Fantasy expert Mike McClure.

On Monday, McClure recommended Twins second baseman Jorge Polanco as one of his top picks on both DraftKings and FanDuel. The result: Polanco had a home run and two RBI to produce 16 points on DraftKings and over 22 points on FanDuel. Anybody who had him in their lineup was well on the way to a profitable day.

McClure’s top MLB DFS picks for June 1, 2021
One of McClure’s top MLB DFS picks for Tuesday is Braves outfielder Ronald Acuna Jr. at $4,300 on FanDuel and $5,500 on DraftKings. Acuna Jr. is off to a blistering start as he leads the NL with 16 home runs, already surpassing the 14 he had in last year’s pandemic-shortened season. He also ranks second in runs scored (39), fifth in total bases (107) and eighth in RBI (33).
Acuna Jr. will face Strasburg on Tuesday and the outfielder has great numbers against the 2019 World Series MVP. Acuna Jr. is 6-for-16 in his career vs. Strasburg with one homer and a 1.099 OPS. He also enters Tuesday’s game on a modest four-game hitting streak with six hits over that span. Acuna previous success vs. Strasburg, plus his hot bat, make him a no-brainer for MLB DFS lineups.
Part of McClure’s optimal MLB DFS strategy includes rostering Twins designated hitter Nelson Cruz ($4,700 on DraftKings, $3,500 on FanDuel), who is hitting .324 away from Target Field as the Twins travel to face the Orioles. The 40-year-old Cruz is the oldest position player in the AL, but he shows no signs of slowing down as he leads Minnesota with 10 home runs and 25 RBI.
Cruz will face southpaw Bruce Zimmermann on Tuesday and the veteran slugger has crushed left-handed pitchers all year. Cruz has a .321/.357/.528 split vs. lefties as opposed to .248/.331/.486 against right-handed pitchers. Similarly, Zimmermann has struggled against right-handed batters as eight of his 10 home runs allowed have been to hitters from that side of the plate.
How to set your MLB DFS lineups for June 1, 2021
McClure is also targeting an undervalued player who is set to explode for huge numbers on Tuesday. The stars are aligning for him to return tournament-winning value and he comes at a price that won’t break the bank. You can only see who it is here.
